The seven explorers returned after an ethnographic research in the Andes are being affected by a mysterious illness, one by one falling to coma stage. A shattered crystal ball is found near each victim. Only one member is left out by the illness and that is a friend of Calculus, named Professor Hercules Tarragon, who has the Rascar Capac's mummy. Tintin, Haddock and Calculus stay with him.But unfortunately he also disappears along with the mummy leaving behind shattered glass. The situation intensifies with the disappearance of Calculus after putting a bracelet found around the house. Later the bracelet is identified as it was previously worn by the now vanished mummy. Tintin and Captain Haddock are in hunt for Calculus and the other explorers who had earlier disappeared. The remaining part of the story is continued in 'The Prisoners Of The Sun'.This book is thrilling and adventurous right from the beginning.
