Price: Rs. 199

Pages: 224

Author: C.S Lewis

I.S.B.N: 978-00-736380-3

Publisher: Harper Collins

The adventurous book The Chronicles Of Narnia: The last battle is the book 7 of 7 in the classic series by C.S Lewis. The British author C.S Lewis has made many other adventurous works like The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, The horse and his boy etc. The story is quite adventurous from the beginning to the end. The story begins with the incident of fooling of every Narnians by the ape- Shift, Ginger- the cat and the calormenes that Aslan ( which is referred in the book as the ass has dressed in a lion skin) is very angry and they obey the rules of the false lion. The king Tirian is very angry and with the help of some Narnians and Narnian friends-Eustace and Jill starts a battle. During the battle, they accidentally falls down in the stable ( where everyone believes that there is the Tash- the false god which is summoned by carolmene ) and finds Lily, Edmund, Peter, Lord Dirgoz and queen Polly there . But they finds the lion Aslan there and Aslan opens the door of the stable and everyone including the Narnians, talking beasts , Carolmenes and each and every character enters the stable( which is the real Narnia) and lives happily . The story is quite adventurous because in this book the entrance to the Narnia  is through a message that Narnia is in difficult circumstances. They finds the necessity to save the Narnians from the dreadful accident and they meets Edmund and Peter to collect the ring ( through which they can enter to Narnia). Suddenly on the way to collect the rings they ( including Edmund and Peter who is standing in the platform) meet with a train accident and they find themselves in Narnia. Actually they were dead in the train accident and they are actually living in the heaven- NARNIA!!!!!

The book consists of different chapters. The book costs a total amount of 199 rupees and is published by Harper collins. The main characters in the story are- Eustace, Jill, Tirian, Jewel, Edmund, Peter, Lucy etc and I liked them all. I liked the chapters 4th one and the last one the most and I recommend this book to all the students of class 6th to 9th. I think you will rush to our library to get this book sooner or later.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

Author- Rick Riordan
Publishers- Puffin books
Pages-279

Percy Jackson and The Sea Of Monsters is the second book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series. It is the sequel to Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. The Protagonists of the story are Percy Jackson (Son of Poseidon), Annabeth Chase (Daughter of Athena) and Tyson( Cyclops ). My favorite character is Percy as he is very brave and has the power to control water.

The book starts with Percy and Tyson fighting with a group of cannibals in a dodge ball match after which they end up burning their school. Then they meet up with Annabeth who briefs them about the happenings in Camp Half Blood. Then Percy decides to embark on an journey which may cost him his life-  A journey to the sea of monsters or as the mortals call it, The Bermuda Triangle. Its wonderful tot read how they escape from the Laistrygonians, from Charybdis and Scylla and also from the Sirens and Polyphemus. IF you are wondering what these are then get up and grab this book. A movie version of the movie is going to be released on August 16 this year. But as always reading the book is a much better way to understand the story.

The Three Musketeers

Title: The three musketeers

Author:  Alexandre Dumas

I.S.B.N: 8179292460

Pages: 192

Price: Rs.92

Publisher: Inner Pages

The book The three musketeers is a wonderful and a famous book written by Alexandre Dumas. The author Alexandre Dumas was a French born and he had made many works such as Twenty years later, The count of Monte Cristo etc. The story revolves around the romance of the duke of Buckingham and the queen of England, the protection of the country by the four musketeers and the adventures between them and the enemies. The story is very interesting from the beginning to the end. The story starts with the arrival of the Gascon D'Artagnan (who is sent by his father to become one of the musketeers of the king), the duels made by him and the three musketeers( Aramis, Athos and Porthos) and their adventures. Then the story changes into a great adventure of breaking up the romance of the duke and the queen with some tricks which changes into a great blame of war between England and France. The story ends wonderfully as the musketeers kill the enemies ( Milardy and Rochefort) who kills the main characters Madame Bonancieux ,the Duke and also tries to kill the musketeers. At last the Cardinal( who first acts as a adviser of the enemies and  at last becomes a good person) gives a promotion for D'Artagnan as a commissioner of the musketeers.

The story is divided into many chapters and it consists 192 pages. The story is written in a simple language. The characters of this story are D'Artaganan, Aramis, Athos, Porthos, Madame Bonancieux, Cardinal ,The Duke and the queen and I like D'artagnan the most. It costs 92 rupees and it has also hilarious illustrations which helps us to understand simply. I recommend this book to all the students of class 5th to 8th. I hope you will like this book and read it sooner or later.

Trade And Solve and Freeze Zone - 19 July 2013

The 4th meeting of the Readers club was interesting as we were having a new activity to do.It was Trade and solve.
Trade and solve was very interesting as well as thrilling too, at the beginning we were divided into different teams. We all got different set of cards. There were two different set of cards- one is yellow and another is blue. We have to find out the riddle by trading our cards with the other teams to get all the pieces of the puzzle and then solve it. We had to follow the given rules. It was quite interesting to negotiate with the other teams to get hold of the particular piece we required to complete our puzzle
In the yellow colour set the team led by Sayooj won the game and in blue set the team led by Nirupam won the game. The team led by Allen could also solve their puzzle.
Later, both the team leaders explained the strategy adopted by their teams to get their cards and to solve the puzzle. The winners got bonus points.
For the Juniors, it was Freeze Zone day. The members of the club were divided into five groups and each one was given a theme to enact. The themes were: harvesting of a field, a death, a film shooting, a cricket match and a railway station.
The best performers were selected for rewarding Readers' Club Points.

Thanks to Mujib Sir for organizing a game like this and we all are looking forwards for so many activities like this.

The Chronicles Of Narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia- The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Author-C S Lewis
Publishers- Harper Collins
Pages- 203
Cost- Rs.125

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is a fantasy novel written by C S Lewis which happens in the Fictional land of Narnia. The protagonists of the story are Peter, Edmund, Susan, Lucy and the lion Aslan. The book is dedicated to C S Lewis' goddaughter Lucy Barfield, after whom the character Lucy was made. A movie adaptation of the movie is also there, but in my opinion reading the book is a better way to understand Narnia.

The books starts with the four children living in a Professor's house because of air raids. Then they try to escape from Mrs Macreaddy and venture in to the wardrobe and find themselves in Narnia. With the white which and Aslan there together a lot of problems happen, but if I am to tell them to you now , what is the use of you reading the book? So take this book to know Narnia better even if you have seen the movie because this is written in simple English and is easier to understand than the movie.

The book Fantastic Mr. Fox is a humorous book and a book with new ideas written by Roald Dahl.  Roald Dahl is a British author who had made many works for the children and each book represent a new idea which will be liked by the children in one way or another and his work includes Charlie and he chocolate factory, Esio Trot, Matilda etc. The story is about a brave fox and three nasty farmers and the story tells about how the fox, his family and many other animals escapes from the three farmers because of stealing foods from their farm by the fox in a humorous way. The story is that Mr. Fox always steals food from the farm of  three farmers Bunce, Boggis and Bean in a brilliant way. The three farmers goes wild with rage and they decides to kill the fox who lives in a hole under a huge tree in different ways. The three farmers rack their brains into the problem and Bean (who is braver than the other two) gets an idea of killing the fox in a way of waiting from behind the tree and waits for the fox to come to shoot him. Their plan works a little bit because of the delay of the shot and the fox lost its tail. Then they got another idea of shoving the hole first with hand machines then with the electronic machines. The foxes also makes a big hole compared to them and this creates disturbance to other animals which digs holes. Then they stops holing and watches the fox to come from the deep hole to take food. The foxes go hungry and from this part the turn humorous. The foxes and other animals knows that the peoples who looks after their farms are commanded to guard the hills and makes holes into their own farm and conducts a feast underground while they watches them for continuously!!!!!

The book has a total number of  82 pages and has a cost of 4.99 euro. It is published by puffin books and there are also illustrations which are hilarious and are made by Quentin bake. I recommend this book to all the students of class 2 to 7 and also for parents to read to their children. I hope you will all like this book like just I did!!!!

Five point someone

Five point someone                            Chetan Bhagat

The national bestseller written by Chetan Bhagat, published by Rupa, costs Rs.95 and has 267 pages. I thought of reading this book because I love the movie ‘3 idiots’ very much and have heard good comments about the book too. I liked both the book and the movie.

But I think the book is little different from the movie or rather the movie is from the book. Firstly, in this book all the three main characters are 5 pointers, which mean they have a low score of 5 point something out of 10 in their Grade Point Average or GPA. But in the movie, Aamir Khan is a bright student. There are a number of differences but both are really humorous.

Before reading this book, I thought IIT meant for really brainy fellows, but I was amazed to read about all kinds of mischief done by these three – Hari, Ryan and Alok.  The cover says it all - “what ‘not’ to do at IIT”.  Also, Hari loves Neha, who is prof. Cherian’s daughter. This book is mainly about friendship. I had great fun going through this book. I enjoyed all the fun and fights by the three best friends, the happenings in their life. I liked Ryan the most. I can’t forget ‘the mice theory’ ‘Cooperate to Dominate’ and of course ‘Operation Pendulum’!! Those who haven’t read this book till now might be wondering “what’s all this!” But I tell you, I’m not going to be a suspense spoiler.  Quick! Catch hold of this book and have fun!

The girl who cried  monster was the eighth book in the goosebumps series. The tagline on the book cover is ‘she’s telling the truth but no one believes her!!!’.Lucy is the main character in this story, Lucy dark spends her summer vacation scaring her brother and participating in the local library’s reading program. She scares her little brother merely mentioning that there might be a monster behind a tree in the bush around the corner. She told many monster stories that her friend and family are sick of it. But when Lucy discovers a real living monster one day nobody believes her.It looks very bad when nobody believes her real monster story and she find many ways of revealing it.The unique thing in this book is this the monster eats turtles, housefly and moths everyday. The ending of the story was just terrible,it adds a twist to the story but it’s a dump twist.I found myself skipping parts of the book. For some reasons it did’nt just interest me.But the ending is very unexpectable. This book will be liked by all ages ,so I request everybody to read this book.

Percy Jackson and the Battle Of The Labyrinth

Author- Rick Riordan
Pages- 342
Publishers- Puffin Books

Percy Jackson and the Battle Of The Labyrinth is the fourth book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series. The protagonists of the story are Percy Jackson (Son Of Poseidon), Annabeth Chase (Daughter of Athena), Tyson (Cyclops and son Of Poseidon) and Grover Underwood (Satyr). My favorite character is Percy Jackson as he has no problem facing his problems.

The book starts with Percy going to his new school as he blew his old one. But he ends up stirring trouble at his new one too. After that he goes to Camp Half- Blood ( The camp were demigods stay in their summer holidays to train and be safe). There he learns a dreadful news the Luke Castellan (Son of Hermes) has almost succeeded in bringing back Kronos (The lord of Time and the god's greatest enemy). He and Annabeth along with Tyson and Grover go on a dangerous journey which may cost them their life- A journey into the Labyrinth Of Daedalus to stop Luke from bringing back Kronos. To find out what happens after that read this exciting book. It is written in simple English and one gets to know about Greek Mythology. I hope even you all would like reading this book.

AUTHOR :-  SUZANNE COLLINS

NO OF PAGES :-299

CHARACTERS :- KATNISS,PEETA,COIN,SNOW,PULTRACH

MY FAVOURATE:- KATNISS ( suffered a lot of tough problems without a mental or emotional breakdown of any sorts )

The book is a fitting ending to the hunger games trilogy. This trilogy has become a worldwide bestseller and the first book has been made into a movie.
With Peeta missing Katniss has no option but to seek district 13.The book narrates the story of Katniss and Peeta’s final struggle against the capitol. Lots  of mishaps and twists lead them almost in to a state of physical and mental breakdown. The emotions and the feelings of the protagonist is wonderfully described the suspense in the quite mesmerising .The climax of the story is quite unthought off .
The book is a wonderful read. Author Suzanne’s insight has been amazing throughout the trilogy.

Get Freezed - The Fifth Meeting

This meeting of Readers Club, on 28 June was very special to me, and to all who enjoyed the activity on this day. As we gathered in the library hall, Rugmini Ma'am announced about the day's activity, the 'Freeze Zone'. Everyone were asked to assemble in the basketball court. Everybody was so with a curious stare.
The activity was for class IXth and Xth,  and the students were divided into 5 groups of 8-10 each.
I was in the fourth group. The task was to depict a scene which was given to the group. One by one had to come and act a role. As the activity is 'Freeze Zone' competition, the group will have to freeze at the end, and should have an similar situation representing the topic. The best group would be selected as the winner. The five topics were - A Police Station, Super Market, Fish Market', 'A Classroom without a Teacher' and 'Fire Rescue'.
Luckily, our group was selected as the winner - The Classroom without a Teacher. We all enjoyed it  the most.. Hope to have such activities in the future too. Watch out - the next activity is again the 'Freeze Zone' for the Juniors..
